What is it?

Johnsonville Sausage came out with a short spot about how things are made the Johnsonville way and how they’re responsible for making a great sausage. At the end of this ad, an employee tells the audience that they’re now also responsible for the commercials. This ad is the introduction of a campaign of Johnsonville employees describing their ideal Johnsonville Sausage commercial. Three have been made and you can watch them below.


 

Why it’s good

The entire concept of employees making up the commercials is great because it’s different. It offers more exposure to the employees and offers an interesting perspective on advertisements. It brings attention to the fact that they have a unique approach to creating their sausage products and that they make everything the Johnsonville way, even the commercials. The respective commercials are about the product, but the overall concept of the campaign doesn’t make it feel like they’re trying to sell you something – the focus is on their commercials.

Was it successful?

Each video has thousands of views on YouTube and these commercials have their own designated place on the Johnsonville Sausage website, complete with movie poster of each. The first commercial released on television has over 1,500 national airings while the second one has over 300 so far.
